[OW2 Newsletter - November 2023 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

In the news this month: a children's tale about free software ("Ada & Zangemann - A Tale of Software, Skateboards, and Raspberry Ice Cream") sold to benefit the Free Software Foundation Europe... illustrated by Sandra Brandstätter and written by FSFE's President Matthias Kirschner! This is not common and deserves to be mentioned, moreover when the book is a good one: initially published in German, available in English, French and Italian.
Looking for a Christmas gift or a goodie for your events or teams? Here it is!

From a more professional point of view, a major event is coming soon: "Open Source Experience" (OSXP) Paris, the most important open source event in France and one of Europe's largest, on December 6 and 7. OW2 will be there, on a booth (H24) shared with three members (the city of Paris with their "CiteLibre" city services suite, XWiki and Waarp), also to promote OSS funding across the EU NGI (Next Generation Internet) cascade funding programme and the NGI Search project: next open call starts in January 2024!

Many OW2 members will also be there on their own booths: BlueMind, CEA, Centreon, FactorFX, Huawei, Linphone, Orange, Smile, Worteks, as well as associate orgs (Adullact, Eclipse, Tosit) and friend organizations (April, Dinum French gov. digital agency - who just won the EU OSOR Community Award 2023 for their BlueHats "public interest hackers" initiative, Ploss-RA, Systematic).

And the OW2 MiniApp (a W3C mobile apps standard) initiative will be showcased on the Huawei booth, along with a coding contest for students whose results will be announced there.

OW2 is also on stage at OSXP, with a keynote on Dec. 7 (an important announce about financing FOSS and commons across the EU NGI cascade funding programme), a round table about open source vendors sustainability (along with Nantes Touch and Belledonne Communications), and talks related to green IT (one about free software and hardware durability, shared with Cyril Desmidt from Electrocycle reuse association, and a live podcast recording for the "Techologie" series animated by Richard Hanna).

So: come and meet us on our booth at OSXP, and if you can't make it to Paris, you may also join us in Brussels, at NGI Forum event, on November 15/16!

Thanking you so much for supporting open source,

Pierre-Yves Gibello
