Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
Most large end-users and systems integrators already use FOSS either in their information systems or in their product and service divisions. Open source compliance is a growing concern and many large companies have named compliance officers. However, while ensuring proper combination of open source licenses in a company’s infrastructure or production chain – which is what compliance is about – is fundamental, it is essential that users engage with communities and contribute to their open source ecosystems. This takes compliance to the next level, and this is what open source governance is about.
And in this area, especially in Europe, everyone is still learning and innovating, with nobody knowing where they really stand regarding the state of the art in the domain. This is why we are working on launching the OW2 OSS Governance initiative. The objective is to develop and promote use and sharing of FOSS governance best practices among large users and systems integrators. A neutral, open ground for executives concerned with defining and steering their open source strategies, it will allow them to share their experiences, difficulties and uncertainties, but also successes and best practices. As we are approaching large companies with this topic, we are proud to announce today that Microsoft, who learned the hard way about open source governance, is joining OW2 to take part in the initiative.
It has already been a hot summer here and the OW2 Management Office is taking turns to go on well-deserved vacations. Please note OW2 will not operate at full speed during the month of August.

- Sympa: New 6.2.45 beta 2 release comes with a data source codebase entirely rewritten. More.
Project of the month
CLIF is a multi-protocols, extendible load testing platform, including monitoring facilities, with optional integration to Eclipse IDE and Jenkins CI server. CLIF won the Market Award at the 2019 OW2 Best Project Award Contest for its success in performance testing at Orange, with the evaluation of the impact of the new domestic IoT services for 3 millions potential homes, related to the Orange project “Maison connectée”. STAMP ran a special breakout session on Java testing improvement with six speakers and live online demonstrations at OW2con'19. And there is a great demonstration of STAMP applied to OW2 Joram published here. More.
ReachOut, "The Beta Testing Campaign Platform for Research Projects" was presented publicly for the first time at OW2con'19. More.
The DECODER research project, involving seven European partners designing a Software Project Intelligence platform for DevOps team, was introduced at OW2con'19. More.
The CROSSMINER research project, ran a successful international workshop on OSS project assessment at OW2con with live online demonstrations by project partners Bitergia, Eclipse and OW2. More
