September 2020 Newsletter
Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
With the coronavirus pandemic seemingly with us for at least the foreseeable future, we are all learning to adapt and live with it both on a personal and a professional level. At OW2, as a community, we have already made adjustments by turning our annual conference into a virtual event on June 17-18. We even assembled our own platform using open source software.
However, because we are a community, we need opportunities to meet in real life and had planned an additional face-to-face Community Day. Because of travel restrictions we are holding a regional OW2 Community Day on November 3rd at the Moonshot Labs Digital Innovation Campus in Grenoble, hopefully to be followed by a further event in Paris before the end of the year. Principally a networking event, there will also be two sessions to illustrate the central theme of this year’s OW2con "The Challenges of Full Stack Open Source": one on the best practices in open source governance and the other on the management of software dependencies.
A quick reminder to Project Leaders, you have until October 15th to submit your project to the OW2con'20 Best Project Awards contest. Submit your project now! The winners will be announced at the Community Day just before the now legendary OW2con’20 Free Beer Party.

ICT 2020, December 1-3, Cologne (cancelled)
The ICT event organized by The European Commission is finally cancelled due to the current health situation in the world and options are explored to re-schedule it in 2021.
European Big Data Value Forum, November 3-5, Berlin and virtual
The EBDVF is co-organized by the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and the European Commission (DG CNECT). The 2020 theme is “Building a strong European Data and AI Ecosystem”.
