June 2020 Newsletter

[OW2 Newsletter - June 2020 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

This year you will be able to attend our annual conference from the comfort of your desk as we have turned OW2con into OW2online. In barely a month we have totally re-engineered OW2con. We have put together an open source platform integrating Rocket.Chat, Pretalx, OBS, XWiki and Youtube Live and defined an entirely new process to which all speakers adapted graciously. True open source and community collaboration in action! The program is now final with five sessions and some 30 presentations by speakers from 13 nationalities. Check it out!

Note that we do not intend to turn OW2con virtual forever because OW2 is a community and opportunities to meet face-to-face are crucial. So this year, in addition to the virtual event OW2online on June 17-18, we are still organizing a physical event, the OW2 Community Day on November 3, 2020. It will be more festive and leave ample time for demos and informal discussions. More on this in the next newsletter, save the date.

A big thank you to our sponsors: Orange, Software Heritage, Engineering, FundingBox, The Eclipse Foundation, BlueMind and Microsoft. Their support and trust mean a lot to us and are greatly appreciated!

On another note I’d like to mention three projects recently accepted by the Technology Council into the OW2 code base: LDAP Tool Box, a collection of LDAP-oriented scripts and applications, Device Farmer (Open Smartphone Test Farm), a web application for debugging smartphones, smartwatches and other gadgets remotely, and Fuyoko, a web based Product Information Management (PIM) / Master Data Management (MDM) system.

With only two weeks to go, please login to OW2online. We look forward to meeting you there!

Thanking you for your on-going support,

Cedric Thomas

PS: Project leaders: Please use your project dashboard to publish your updates. Your news will appear on our Project Marketplace home page and in this newsletter.
