August 2021 Newsletter

[OW2 Newsletter - August 2021 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

The OW2 OSS Good Governance initiative is moving forward fast with the OSPO Alliance. After its launch at OW2con in June, we developed the website and issued a second press release, this one announcing the support of large IT companies such as Red Hat and OW2 members Orange, Engineering and Microsoft. We are planning an introductory webinar on September 21st. Save the date and stay tuned.

Digital sovereignty is set to be an area of considerable interest for the OW2 community. As a long-term stakeholder in the European open source ecosystem, OW2 welcomes the launch of the EUCLIDIA Alliance. We believe that guaranteeing a supply of independent European cloud technologies is crucial to ensuring the digital sovereignty of our economies.

We have prepared the participation of OW2 in several European events after the summer, including BBoost, EclipseCon, Open Source Experience (OSXP) and SFScon. There’s still an opportunity for one project or member to exhibit in the OW2 Village at OSXP.

Talking about events, OW2con'21 is now well over and I have two reminders. First, all presentation slides and videos are available online and, second, we need you to help us make next year's event even better by giving us your feedback on our short satisfaction survey.

Please note the OW2 Management Office is taking turns to go on well-deserved vacations in August, so OW2 will not be operating at full speed.

Thanking you for your on-going support, stay safe and, for those of you in the northern hemisphere, enjoy the summer break!

Cedric Thomas
