OW2, the European organisation promoting open source software for information systems, is looking for its Chief Executive Officer. A high profile position for an experienced manager with proven management and communication skills.

OW2 is a well-established, recognised and respected non-profit open source organisation. Its mission is to promote a code base of industry-grade open source software for corporate information systems. A world-renowned organisation, OW2 has become an irreplaceable link in the European open source software value chain.

In relation with the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive is responsible for the reputation, income and growth of the association, for its operational efficiency and for maintaining an appropriate climate in which staff and members can function at their highest level of productivity.

The CEO of OW2 is in charge of the following areas.

Development 

  • Planning, developing, and implementing strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the Association. 
  • Driving membership and code base growth.
  • Seeking and driving participation in EU-funded collaborative projects. 

Communication 

  • Communicating the Association’s vision and strategy through written pieces and personal appearances at industry events, press and other media. 
  • Driving definition and approval by Board of Directors of positions on public policies, and other ethical and legal issues. 

Legal and Financial 

  • Ensuring the Association’s compliance with its legal and administrative obligations. 
  • Proposal and year-long tracking of the Association’s budget. 
  • Monitoring and reporting of invoicing, expenses and all financial operations. 

Management 

  • Driving definition, approval and execution of Association operational procedures, policies, and standards. 
  • Ensuring Management Office’s operational efficiency and smooth management of priorities. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to work efficiently in a small team, good communication skills and a good command of spoken and written English.

We are a totally virtual organisation, all positions are remotely based. Up to five trips per year within Europe for a few days are usually expected.
