October 2013 Newsletter

[OW2 Newsletter - October 2013 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

Only a few weeks now to OW2con'13, the OW2 community annual conference held on November 12-14. Register now!

Thanks to our sponsors, Inria, Orange, Microsoft, Huawei, OpenStack, Citrix, Engineering/SpagoBI, and Cloudwatt, and the OCEAN, OpenCloudware and RISCOSS projects, the conference is once again free of charge and everyone is welcome.

The theme of OW2con'13, “Open Source Collaborative Innovation, The Way Forward” is a testimonial to open source as a seamless mechanism for collaborative innovation in software. No cumbersome IP negotiations, no costly contracts, the rules of engagement are defined by the license attached to the code. Leveraging open source to accelerate collaborative innovation is a powerful strategy. Open source projects require a neutral environment where contributors can work together independently of private interests. This is why we are positioning OW2 more and more as a provider of community support and dissemination services to innovative open source collaborative projects. Check out our datasheet here

On another note, we are pleased to welcome a new member in our community, French cloud service provider Cloudwatt

I look forward to seeing many of you again at OW2con'13 (November 12-14, save the date!) in Paris.

Cedric Thomas

PS: Project leaders: Do not forget to use the OW2 Forge to tell everybody about your project updates. News will appear on the OW2 forge, our home page and in this newsletter
