[OW2 Newsletter - July 2015 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

The mission of OW2 is to develop a code base of open source infrastructure software and foster a vibrant business ecosystem. Open source software is an integral part of the digital industry and so are our members and our projects. OW2 is on hand to support them in this competitive environment. During the latest OW2 Board of Directors' meeting, we fine-tuned the long term strategy already presented several years ago; it can be summarized in three steps.

  • Technology: we are proactive in four technology areas which, from our standpoint, constitute key enablers of the digital revolution: cloud computing, big data, IoT and security.
  • Quality & Governance: we offer a quality program to help our projects to develop trustworthy, quality code supported by an open community.
  • Market: more precisely, access to market, with a marketplace showcasing our most valuable projects and helping them monetize their developments.

To fulfill our mission, our strategy is to develop the resources that help bring to market well-positioned quality software that is easy to contribute to. The good news today is we are close to having all the building blocks in place: our four initiatives, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Future Internet, Privacy and Security, thanks to our members, our quality and governance systems becoming more tangible thanks to SQuAT and the RISCOSS project and the market place soon to be deployed thanks to the AppHub project. Stay tuned!

On another note, I am pleased to announce two events that will be held togeher from November 17-19: our own OW2con'15 and Paris Open Source Summit. Check out the the Calls For Presentations and… Save the Date!

Thank you for your contributions and on-going support,

Cedric Thomas
