August 2012 Newsletter

[OW2 Newsletter - August 2012 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

A crowd chanting “Software Libre!” at a rock concert, a conference panel participant introducing himself by declaring: “I am a free software militant”. Could only happen in Brazil and at FISL, the largest FLOSS event in Latin America. Depending on how you look at it, it is as much a sociopolitical meeting as a technology conference or a business event. With six members and projects, a large booth,  8 presentations and a radio interview, OW2 certainly got the very best from this unparalleled event. Check out the videos and the pictures here. And last month we were also at OSCON; however, while the commitment of our members made OW2's participation in FISL a high-profile success, once again we were only able to have a modest booth in the non-profit area at the North American event.

Looking forward, we are preparing ourselves for a number of top-line autumn events including the Open World Forum and the Cloud Computing expo in Paris, the China Open Source Week and the CompatibleOne launch at Cloud Expo West in Santa Clara. See details below.

In the meantime, the OW2 Management Office is taking turns to go on well-deserved holidays.

Thanking you for your on-going support and for those of you who are lucky enough, have a great holiday!

Cedric Thomas

PS: Project leaders: Do not forget to use the OW2 Forge to tell everybody about your project updates. News will appear on the OW2 forge, our home page and in this newsletter
