December 2016 Newsletter

[OW2 Newsletter - December 2016 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

Great news, OW2 won the "Acteurs du Libre" Special Jury Award at last month's Paris Open Source Summit! I am proud to say this distinction was awarded in recognition of ten years of outstanding support to the open source ecosystem. Paris Open Source Summit is the flagship event of the European open source community. Check out our photos and the presentations made at the sessions organized by OW2.

The OW2 community provided several contributions to the European Commission's consultation on the future research and innovation challenges in cloud computing. An interesting trend in this consutation: the number of contributions that emphasized edge and distributed cloud computing. OSAi, the OW2 Open Source Accessibility initiative, is off to a great start as it is already sharing presentations, guides and several accessibility resources.

I am delighted to welcome two new members this month. DanOwa SofiTech (DOST), a systems integrator who joins OW2 from Bahrain, and Poochie's Technology, a digital agency specializing in accessibility.

One last thing, I'd like to remind you of our AppHub beta-testing campaign. Try AppHub, our self-service cloud-oriented deployment platform, fill in the very short questionnaire, help improve it and, who knows, you might even win a connected watch!

Thank you for your support and… Season's greetings to all!

Cedric Thomas

PS: Project leaders: Please use your project dashboard to publish your updates. Your news will appear on our home page and in this newsletter.
