{style:type=span|font-size=8px}[OW2 Newsletter - May 2011 - From the OW2 Management Office\] {style}

{style:type=div|align=left}Dear OW2 Members, dear All, {style} {style:type=div|align=left}This month we are proud to announce two great additions to the OW2 membership: Canonical, the emblematic open source company behind Ubuntu, and Kingdee, the leading enterprise application and middleware ISV in China have joined OW2. On the
technology side, we have announced an integrated [enterprise Java stack>http://www.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/PressReleases/CanonicaljoinsOW2], and demonstrated how the collaborative project [CompatibleOne>http://www.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/PressReleases/CompatibleOneprojectpresentedatOpenStackSummit]  integrates with OpenStack. We have also accepted Sirocco, an interesting new project for cloud computing infrastructure while the OW2 Chameleon project has been promoted to mature project. Once again all the talks we submitted to the OSCON program committee were turned down; needless to say we are very [disappointed>http://www.ow2.org/view/Events/OSCONPortlandUSA]. More news below.{style} {style:type=div|align=left}

A note on cooperation and open source. Cooperation is not specific to open source, it happens everyday in the proprietary world. It only takes two companies to realize that they can acheive their objectives by working together rather than by ignoring each other or even competing. Cooperation, partnership and alliances are, most often, one-to-one affairs that occur once in a while. What makes open source different is that it provides a generic environment for doing business together. In the open source world, thanks to independent organizations such as OW2, it happens seamlessly every day. No contracts, no MoU, no painful negociation, we just provide the fabric for uncomplicated, multi-player collaboration. What takes place in the framework of our "commons", i.e. our code base and our joint activities, is open cooperation: nothing to sign, we just do it, we share, we contribute, we take and we give back. For example, the OW2 events, villages and conference tracks, the projects and the initiatives, the board and
 technology council meetings, etc., are all mechanisms implemented to foster open, agile cooperation among our members.
{style} {style:type=div|align=left}[Job opportunities>http://www.ow2.org/view/About/ManagementOffice]: OW2 is growing and we are now seeking an administrative assistant and a webmaster to join the Management Office.{style} {style:type=div|align=left} Party! If you are in France next week, do come to our wine and cheese party at the [OW2 village>http://www.ow2.org/view/Events/SolutionsLinux]  at Solutions Linux next week, May 11, 6pm.

Thank you for your on-going support,
