[OW2 Newsletter - July 2013 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

Critical mass, transparent governance and access to shared resources are among the key benefits of  joining an open source organization. At OW2 we spend a significant proportion of our resources in developing and managing the technical infrastructure we make available to our developers. The OW2 infrastructure is the foundation of our ecosystem platform strategy. While our projects have no obligation to use the tools we provide them with, we are convinced that the availability of a technical infrastructure is essential to OW2 as a structured and sustainable community. At OW2, we conduct an ongoing evaluation of the services expected from us. While some services must be provided by our infrastructure, others can be outsourced. We provide by ourselves either the services that define the OW2 community, such as our mailing lists or our download platform, or the services we must learn to use, such as continuous integration or cloud hosting.

This month we are announcing the opening of ow2stack, the cloud testbed for the OW2 community. Ow2stack runs OpenStack Grizzly, we will open it gradually as we will be exploring the technical and governance challenges of running a testbed. Five projects will be testing the waters for us during the first three months: CHOReOS, CompatibleOne, OpenCloudware, XLcloud and Proactive.

I am now delighted to introduce new OW2 IT Administrator, Martin Hamant. A highly experienced administrator, Martin is now your interface for all matters regarding our technical infrastructure. Please give a warm welcome to Martin!

Thanking you for your on-going support,

Cedric Thomas

PS: Project leaders: Do not forget to use the OW2 Forge to tell everybody about your project updates. News will appear on the OW2 forge, our home page and in this newsletter
