Innovative City Convention 2013, the meeting place and think tank for the smart and sustainable city, will address fundamental topics through reports and expertise of international actors. Speakers from both the public and the private sphere will share their experiences with the aim of continuing to work together in transforming neighbourhoods, villages, cities, metropolises and activity zones into smart cities.

The cities that have made the strongest mark in history are those that have successfully brought people together to create, to initiate, cities that have been more open than others; innovative cities have always been at the heart of human networks.

The different social, economic and environmental challenges that cities are currently facing need to be addressed not only at a local level, but also on a wider scale. Cities can no longer be defined simply by their borders. New technologies and their adoption can provide the link between the approaches of urban planning departments and the involvement of citizens.
