*OW2 Open Source Cloudware Initiative Organizes First Hands-On Workshops*

*Members of the OW2 Community will gather in Paris and Beijing at first of their kind hands-on workshops to share open source cloudware community developments*

*Paris, March 3rd, 2011* – At the In The Cloud event March 8-10, 2011 in Paris, France, the OW2 community will hold the first of two hands-on community meetings in a unique open source information-sharing event. The second of these events will be held in Beijing, March 21-25, 2011.

These workshops will reveal the progress of the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative (OSCi), a unique community effort to develop the next generation of open source software for the cloud. The highlights of these workshops include: results of the self-scaling SelfXF projects, contributions in federated authentication, authorisation and accounting and in security certification and compliance, presentation and discussion of a cloud application controller and deployer, shared cluster and resource allocations technologies, a preview of on-going research for the ultra-scale management of services and of massively distributed cloud platforms.

“Our goal is to build a common vision of what should be an open cloud based on open source and open standards, and to develop key software technologies according to an R&D agenda collaboratively defined.” - Jean-Pierre Laisne, President, OW2 President and a co-lead of the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative.

The OSCi aggregates software development delivered by the collaborative project. The workshops will also cover international synchronization efforts of the OSCi with on-going and future collaborative projects. These projects are an integral part of OW2's community efforts.
