March 2011 Newsletter

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,
It's election time! I guess there is no need to lecture OW2 members on how essential it is to take an active part in this process, as a candidate or by voting. Please check out this page here for a comprehensive overview. The next important milestone to keep in mind is that registration of candidates closes on March 13. And I'd like to remind you that our General Assembly this year is next week on March 9.
More than just an open source community, we like to think of OW2 as a truly open organization itself. Obviously, we can always do a better job at keeping such a global organization operating in an open and transparent way. By the way, see how we think we score on the open-by-rule benchmark. The jury is still out, your feedback is always welcome. {style} Thank you for your on-going support.{style:type=div}\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \

PS: Project leaders: Do not forget to use the OW2 Forge to tell everybody about your project updates. News will appear on the OW2 forge, our home page and in this newsletter!

Technical Infrastructure

The good news here is that after a quick TC discussion, we are now testing two great new facilities for our developers: Shortcut gitorious, implemented here, and the Sonatype Nexus Maven repository manager here.

The bad news is that as we were close to take off, we had to postpone sine die the forge migration as long as the "anonymous" access is not available on NovaForge. We are currently trying to find a workaround solution. \
