\[OW2 Newsletter - June 2011 - From the OW2 Management Office\]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

The truth of OW2 is in its code base and its people. Technology has no frontiers; this is specially true with software and the Internet, and our code base is indeed global. But behind all this there are the people. The software might be global, but there would be no OW2 code base without our 1200 committers and no OW2 without our members. Real people, living real lives in real places. Mailing lists, teleconferencing, instant messaging help create a global organization but they are mere tools that will not replace face-to-face contacts.

This spring, OW2 is gearing up its presence across several continents. Whether through our events or our new members, OW2 is increasingly active in Europe, Africa, China and North and South America. Our highlights include our [OW2 Day in Berlin>http://www.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/Events/OW2 Day Berlin>blank]  last month, our booth and talks at [FISL>http://www.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/Events/FISLBrazil>blank]  in Porto Alegre in June, our [Bay Area OW2 meetup>http://www.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/Events/BayAreaOW2Meetup>blank]  and presence at [OSCON>http://www.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/Events/OSCONPortlandUSA>blank]  in Portland in July and the [China Open Source Week>http://www.ow2.org/xwiki/bin/view/Events/China Open Source Week>blank]  in Beijing and Nanjing in October.

OW2 is a global organization but our real assets are our members who think globally and act locally and we wouldn't thrive without their contributions.

Thank you for your on-going support,
