1) Open-source middleware, an entrepreneurship perspective Speaker : Christophe Ney, Consultant Schedule : April 2, 04:00 - 04:30 Abstract : This first decade of the 21th century has been for open-source the time of a deep impact onto the software industry at large and of dramatic changes in professional practices of IT specialists worldwide. Along with social and business adoption of a finally converging pervasive, mobile and highspeed worldwide network that was prefigured by the Web, open-source has offered new ways of thinking software adoption from end to end. Today, often invisible to the end user who does not know anymore where software is on the system, open-source bricks have been something that IT specialists have been watching closely as a way to lower the cost of system design and maintenance. This talk offers a perspective of what open-source has brought to entrepreneurs starting new organizations or revitalizing mature organizations with innovative projects.
