[OW2 Newsletter - September 2023 - From the OW2 Management Office]

Dear OW2 Members, dear All,

Now everyone is back to school, OW2 as well!

With good news, on the community side: a new corporate member joined us, Belledonne Communications, developer of the famous Linphone project and historical open source advocate. They are working with us to organize a local event in Grenoble, France - their home town, and the place where OW2 originated from, in the Alps.

Other positive information from there, the Grenoble University, UGA, committed to joining OW2 in 2024, for 5 years, in the frame of a cloud-related educational project: a reminder that mixing business and academic worlds has always been central in OW2's history.

We also reinforce our cooperation with associate organizations, and are honoured to participate in French ADULLACT's "free digital territories" contest jury, rewarding cities or local public authorities who successfully deploy open source: still time to apply here!

On the projects side, we will dedicate new efforts to our MRL methodology, particularly the technical metrics generation: mature projects are now under a new phase of SonarQube analysis, you may check the early results on our SonarQube instance. If you want to get into the technical details take a look at CI configuration. Of course we welcome any feedback, feature requests and contributions.

And note our NGI Search project, that funds OSS developments focused on Internet search at large, has its 3rd open call running by the end of this month - still time to take your chance!

On the communication side, we are pleased to announce a new series of webinars, to start early 2024. They will renew what was previously done in Open Research Webinars (the last ORW being scheduled on Nov. 7, 2023), with a broader focus: science of course, but also open source innovation financing (in the frame of "Next Generation Internet" EU initiative), and the OW2 community at large.

Also do not forget to update your agendas: our annual conference, OW2Con'24, will take place on June 11/12, 2024, in Paris. More details to come soon!

XWiki: a student contributes to XWiki under the Google summer of code program and developed a new extension that provides an interactive link visualizer. Also version 15.7 was released with new quick actions and bug fixes. More.
Rocket.Chat released several bug fix versions of the 6.3 branch that fix various issues including performance ones. More.
GLPI shared Košice city success story. City of Košice with the help of OMNICOM (a Teclib official partner) deployed GLPI for 200 technicians and 1500 users to managed 3000 assets. Read the story to learn more about the challenge, goal and implementation. More.
LemonLDAP::NG: published version 2.17 that includes security fixes but also brings new features such as improvements for CAS logout workflow, improved OpenID compatibility for native application, better accountability of 2FA devices, etc. More.
LDAP Tool Box: released packages for OpenLDAP 2.5.16 and 2.6.6. This new release now provides packages for Debian testing and unstable and also for Ubuntu 22.04. More.
Imixs-Workflow: shares with us patterns to build good workflow (BPMN) applications with recommendation about where to put your business logic, externals APIs, etc. More.
DeviceFarmer: version 3.6.6 is out bringing support of Node 20.3.0, update oauth2 to get contact information, fix on taking control of a device, etc. Check out the release notes to get the full list of new features and bug fixes. More.
BlueMind: BlueMind share with us in a blog post details about delivery reports and read receipt: what are the differences between the two features and how to choose which one to use (it can be both). More.
AuthzForce: released version 20.3.1 with security issues (in dependencies) fixes. This version also add a missing value for standard XACML 3.0 Core attribute ID in XacmlAttributeId enum. More.
PrestaShop share some updates about translation progress. PrestaShop 8 is fully translated in 9 languages and almost fully translated in 10 additional languages. Translation is of course opened for contributions! More.
OCS Inventory NG: published version 2.12.0. This version brings improvements for software search filters, network scans and More. It also provides several bug fix including better PHP 8 support. More.

Project of the month

Centreon is an IT Infrastructure Monitoring open source project. The Centreon open source platform monitors end-to-end IT Infrastructure, from On-Premise to the Cloud to the Edge. More.
