Individual Members: Candidates Profiles

JEAN PARPAILLON
Motivations

As an early open source enthusiast engineer and a contributor to several
OW2 projects (CompatibleOne, XLCloud, erocci), I've greatly appreciated the support of OW2 organization for the promotion of these projects. I strongly believe open source software quality and success comes from individual contributors commitment to the projects and their goal. Applying to the position of individual members representative, I want to help OW2 becoming a place for open source projects contributors and customers to meet.

Applicant Bio

Since 10 years, Jean Parpaillon has been a contributor to several open source projects, mainly in the domain of infrastructure softwares: operating systems (Kerrighed, XtreemOS), IT management (Mandriva Pulse2), cloud interoperability (CompatibleOne, erocci).
He is passionate about distributed systems and collaborative work. He has contributed as an individual, through software editors companies and through collaborative projects.

ALBERTO SILLITTI
Motivations

The OW2 consortium has the critical mass to be the reference point in the industry driven open source community worldwide. However, to play this role it requires the involvement of more institutions and individuals outside Europe and North America. In particular, the involvement of more participants from Asian and Southern American countries (e.g., China, Brazil, Argentina, etc.) is required. I would like to help OW2 to become a more international fostering the collaboration among current members in different geographical areas and new ones. I think that the consortium will benefit also from the establishment of active partnerships in the development of new open source initiatives and projects that may have OW2 as an aggregation point.

Applicant Bio

Alberto Sillitti, Ph.D., PEng is Associate Professor at the Faulty of Computer Science of the Free University of Bolzano Bozen, Italy. He holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering received from the University of Genoa (Italy) in 2005. He has been involved in several EU funded projects related to Open Source Software, Services Architectures, and Agile Methods in which he applies non-invasive measurement approaches. He has served as member of the program committee of several international conferences and as program chair of OSS 2007. He has been involved in the organization of OSS 2005 (in Italy), 2007 (in Ireland), 2013 (in Slovenia), 2014 (in Costa Rica). He has lead the development of the QualiPSo OMM (Open Maturity Model) for the assessment of the quality of the Open Source production process. His research areas include open source development, agile methods, software engineering, non-invasive measurement, mobile and web services. He is author of more than 100 papers published in international conferences and journals. He has been the chairman of the IFIP Working Group 2.13 on Open Source since 2012. He also authored the book titled Agile Technologies in Open Source Development published by IGI Global in 2009.
