NOEL DE PALMA
Motivations

OW2 provides open source technologies that are the core of many teaching units at University Joseph Fourier (UJF) such as the IM2AG departments (Computer Science, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics). We are interested in the co-development with the OW2 members of tutorials about open source software (e.g. http://ecom.ow2.org). This will promote OW2 software for teaching abroad since UJF is involved in many international teaching programs and will create a virtuous circle for educational material reuse.

OW2 is a solid platform providing software that interests many labs in applied mathematics and computer sciences but also potentially in other fields such as medecine, physics or biology at UJF. These other fields often require distributed computing technologies such as cloud computing, ambient systems and others middleware. This is an opportunity to build collaborative projects between academia and industry that involve various disciplines but also to participate and promote OW2 projects as technology provider.

OW2 is a partner for technology transfer between academia and industry through an international open source platform and consortium. UJF has a dynamic policy of research and technology transfer and supports collaborative research by initiating R&D partnerships with public laboratories and private companies. We believe that all OW2 partners and UJF will mutually benefit from such collaborations.
